Therapeutic Style and Focus
-
Psychological Flexibility
When life gets hard, it can be easy to fall into patterns of unsuccessfully trying to control or avoid pain. Psychological flexibility is the practice of staying open and present when dificulties arise and choosing effective action in line with ones values and personally meaningful goals.
-
Self Compassion
When in pain we can respond to our suffering with self criticism, judgement and blame. Self compassion is acknowledging our humanness and meeting life challenges and difficult inner experiences with courage, kindness, wisdom, and a commitment to take action in ways that are helpful to improve life and reduce suffering.
-
Mindful Awareness
The practice of being aware of thoughts, emotions, sensations, without overly identifying or reacting to them. Mindful awareness helps to increase understanding of ones experience and create space to be able to choose effective actions.
-
Process Based
I take a process based approach to therapy meaning I aim to go beyond diagnosis to target the individual processes that result in people becoming stuck and use science based strategies to support people in getting free and creating meaningful change.
-
Trauma Informed
I maintain an understanding, respect and sensitivity to the impacts of trauma on each individual. I am informed by attachment and polyvagal theory and integrate somatic and cognitive interventions always going at a pace that is safe, supportive and collaborative with each client.
-
Strengths Based
When struggling in can be easy to only see what is not working and miss our own strengths. We will identify and build upon individual strengths, resources, and inner wisdom to engage with challenges.

I have experience working with a range of mental health diagnoses and challenges. my clinical work has focused on supporting people with the following:
